Radiator fan (VW Passat B3)

The electric radiator fan is switched on automatically by a thermal switch, depending on the coolant temperature (in some models - and from the temperature of the engine compartment).

Note: After the engine has stopped, the fan may continue to run for some time (up to 10 minutes) and with the ignition off. In addition, it may suddenly turn on if:

• coolant temperature increased due to dynamic heating
• the engine compartment has additionally heated up from the sun when the engine is warm. Therefore, when working near the fan, be especially careful!
