Spark plugs (VW Passat B3)

Replacement of spark plugs is performed as part of periodic maintenance (service) service.

If it is necessary to replace spark plugs unscheduled, the following should be taken into account:

• Spark plugs, as well as the entire ignition system, must match the specific engine model. Installing unsuitable spark plugs can adversely affect exhaust toxicity, traction characteristics and engine durability. To avoid malfunctions associated with installing unsuitable spark plugs, use spark plugs recommended for the engine by Volkswagen. Of particular importance are the number of electrodes, the glow number of the spark plug and the presence of a device for suppressing radio interference.
• Spark plugs are constantly being upgraded, and Volkswagen service stations have up-to-date information on the applicability of new spark plugs for specific engines.
