Front oil seal (from the pulley side) - replacement



The front crankshaft oil seal is easily replaced after removing the timing belt.

1. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and remove the pulley and timing belt sprocket from the shaft. Do not attempt to remove the pulley separately.

2. Remove the oil seal from the oil pump housing using a special puller (figure B:22) or using two self-tapping screws and pliers.

3. Make sure that the oil seal seat and the surface of the crankshaft journal are clean, lightly lubricate them.

4. Press the new seal into the housing using a special tool or mandrel (figure B:23).

6. Install the pulley with the sprocket on the crankshaft and secure them with the bolt. Tighten the bolt with a torque of 8.0 kg·m. Install the toothed belt and other parts as described earlier.

The rear crankshaft oil seal can be replaced after removing the clutch and gearbox.

1. Secure the flywheel with a screwdriver or the special tool shown in Figure B:24. Remove the six bolts securing the flywheel to the rear end of the crankshaft and remove the flywheel.

2. Remove the seal from the aluminum housing using a screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the seal seat.

3. Clean the oil seal seat and the surface of the crankshaft journal. Lubricate the crankshaft journal.

4. Insert the new seal into the housing and press it into place evenly, without tilting it. To ensure the integrity of the seal's working edges and to ensure correct installation, use the protective mandrel of the 2003 tool (figure B:25). 5. Install the flywheel and tighten the mounting bolts to the required torque. Apply sealant to the bolt threads before installation "Loctite 270" or similar liquid for locking threaded connections.


6. Install the clutch and gearbox as described in the chapter "Clutch and manual transmission".
