Examination
Stop the engine, put the transmission in neutral and apply the handbrake. Press the brake pedal several times, and then, keeping the pedal depressed, start the engine. If the servo is working properly, the pedal should move down a little when starting the engine under the pressure of the foot. If this does not happen, the servo amplifier is not working. Check vacuum hose and connections, replace servo if necessary.
Check valve
The non-return valve is installed in the vacuum hose of the servo booster, and it is easy to replace it in case of a defect.
To check the operation of the valve, blow it in both directions. The valve must allow air to pass in the direction of the arrow, and when you try to blow it in the opposite direction, the valve must close.
Servo amplifier replacement
1. Remove the brake master cylinder as described previously.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the servo booster.
3. Disconnect the brake pedal return spring, remove the clip (cotter pin) and remove the pin from the pusher fork.
4. Remove the four nuts (13 mm) and remove the spring washers securing the servo to the baffle and remove the servo.
5. Installation of the servo amplifier is carried out in the reverse order. Install the master cylinder and bleed the brake system as described earlier.
