Tools and equipment (VW Golf 1)

In addition to the tools listed in the chapter "Basic rules for carrying out work", to perform the operations described in this chapter, you will need the following:

• Brake Hose Clamp - To prevent fluid loss when disconnecting a brake hose or tube
• Pressure brake bleeder tool (e.g. Gunson's Eezibleed) - for removing air from the hydraulic system.
• A thin hose and a transparent container - for collecting fluid when bleeding the brakes.
• Tire pump (or other source of compressed air) — to remove the piston from the caliper cylinder.
• Disc Brake Pad Remover - For removing brake pads from the caliper (not necessarily)
• Piston installation template - for checking the position of the brake caliper piston (you can make it yourself, see text).
