The release of air is carried out by repeatedly pressing the brake pedal. This requires an assistant. The working methods are the same for all machines.
If air is released from the system, then it is necessary to release it from each brake cylinder separately, since air can penetrate into all cylinders. However, if the brake mechanism was replaced or rebuilt (saddle or frame) or a brake cylinder, it is usually sufficient to bleed air from that cylinder.
Air release sequence:
- brake mechanism or brake cylinder rear right;
- brake mechanism or brake cylinder rear left;
- brake mechanism front right;
- brake mechanism front left.
Attention! Do not press down on the balancer of the brake force regulator while bleeding the rear brakes.
1. Remove the dust cap from the brake cylinder air release valve, put on a clean hose, lower the other end into a container half filled with brake fluid (the corresponding hose and container are available in car dealerships).
2. With outside help "sway" the brake pedal until the pressure in the system rises, which is felt by the increased resistance of the brake pedal.
3. If the pressure is sufficient, depress the brake pedal to the stop and hold.
4. Open the bleeder valve on the brake (or brake cylinder), by unscrewing it half a turn with a spanner wrench. Collect escaping liquid in a container. Make sure that the hose is constantly below the brake fluid level in the container.
5. As soon as fluid pressure drops, close the air release valve.
6. Repeat the swing until pressure builds up. Press the pedal to the stop and hold, open the air release valve until the pressure drops, close the air release valve.
7. Repeat bleeding from the cylinder until the brake fluid drains into a bubble-free container.
8. After the air is released, remove the hose from the air release valve, put the dust cap on the valve.
9. Bleed the other brake cylinder in the same way, etc. Follow the sequence.
Attention! During bleeding, observe the expansion tank from time to time. The brake fluid level must not drop too low, otherwise air will enter the system through the reservoir. Add only new brake fluid.
10. After venting the air, fill the expansion tank to the mark "MAX".
Attention! When repairing, use the AG VW repair kit for installation. The brake cylinder can be sorted out without removing it from the machine if the body does not need to be replaced. A bulkhead is required if the cuffs are leaking or the pistons are jammed. If there are grooves or traces of rust in the housing, the brake cylinder is replaced completely. It is not allowed to remove furrows or rust with sandpaper. When replacing a brake cylinder, make sure that the new cylinder has the same diameter, as there are cylinders with two diameters.
