NOTES:
Bleeding the brake systems of vehicles equipped with ABS is carried out in the same way as for vehicles without this system.
New DOT 4 brake fluid is used.
Genuine VW/Audi brake fluid meets this specification.
Brake fluid is poisonous. It is not allowed to get brake fluid on the paintwork, as this will damage it.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic - it attracts moisture from the surrounding air. Brake fluid may only be stored in closed containers.
If drops of brake fluid are found, wash off with plenty of water.
To bleed the hydraulic unit, a pressure of at least 2 bar must be generated.
Bleeding the brake system using the VAS 5234 brake filling and bleeding device or the VAG 1869 brake filling and bleeding device.
NOTE: If there is no brake fluid in one of the reservoir chambers (e.g. due to non-tightness of the respective circuit), you must first pre-bleed the brake system.
Preliminary pumping
Brembo brake calipers have two bleeders. Always bleed at two bleed ports.
Bleed at the external bleeder first.
Connect the device for filling and bleeding the brake system VAS 5234 or VAG 1869.
Pumping sequence
Bleed the front right and left calipers at the same time.
Bleed the rear left and right brake calipers at the same time.
The bleeder fittings with the bleeder container hoses attached must remain open until bubble-free fluid flows out.
Then using the function «Grundeinstellung/ Basic setting» bleed the hydraulic unit again using the tester VAS 5051.
Activate basic setting mode (for bleeding the brake system).
Connect VAS 5051 and select function.
Then the brake system should be bled again.
After bleeding the brake system, it is necessary to make a basic adjustment of the pressure sensor in the brake system.
