Unlocking the fuel filler flap

Pulling the switch in the driver's door unlocks the fuel filler flap. The flap can also be unlocked with the ignition off.

The fuel filler neck is located on the side on the right side at the rear of the vehicle.

Once you have opened the fuel filler cap, access to the fuel tank cap is open.

The fuel tank capacity is approximately 62 liters.

Once the fuel dispenser nozzle automatically stops supplying fuel, the fuel tank is "full". Therefore, you should not try to add more fuel to it, because in this case the reserve space will be filled in case of fuel expansion in the tank - when the outside air temperature rises, the fuel will spill out of the tank.

After refueling, tighten the filler cap tightly and close the hatch cover until it locks into place (Fig. 1.46).

Any fuel that has come into contact with the body surface must be removed immediately, as otherwise the paintwork of the body may be damaged under certain circumstances. The paintwork may be damaged especially severely if biodiesel fuel comes into contact with it.

Never drain the fuel tank of a vehicle equipped with a catalytic converter. This may cause the fuel to flow unevenly into the engine, causing it to run rough, which may result in unburned fuel getting into the catalytic converter. This may cause overheating and subsequent damage to the catalytic converter.

Warning: When transporting reserve fuel canisters in your vehicle, you must comply with the regulations prescribed by law. For safety reasons, we recommend that you do not carry any fuel canisters with you if possible. In the event of an accident, the canisters may be damaged and the fuel may spill.
