Roof rack (VW Passat B6)

When transporting cargo on the roof, the following should be taken into account:

Since the roof has gutters, you should not use any roof rack that comes to hand. We recommend using only the support system intended for the vehicle.

This support system is the basis for a complete luggage rack. For the transportation of luggage, skis, bicycles, surfboards and boats, additional fastenings should be used for safety reasons.

In the event of any damage to the vehicle due to the use of other types of support systems or installation of the recommended support system in violation of the installation instructions, the right to warranty repairs is lost.

When using the support system from the previous model of the car, an adapter is required, otherwise the car may be damaged. The adapter can be purchased from a Volkswagen service center.

Caution: When installing the support system, be sure to follow the included installation instructions.

Note: After a short run, check the reliability of the threaded connections and other fasteners, tighten them if necessary and then check again.

The support system must be installed only between the special marks. The marks are located in the doorway (see arrows in figure 1.48).
