Both batteries must have a nominal voltage of 12 V. Capacity (ampere-hour) auxiliary battery should not be significantly less than the capacity of the discharged battery.
Connecting cables with a sufficiently large cross section must be used. Pay attention to the cable parameters indicated by its manufacturer.
Only cables with insulated pole clamps should be used.
There should not be any contact between the cars, otherwise the current may flow when the positive terminals are connected.
The discharged battery must be connected to the vehicle's electrical system in the usual way.
The vehicle's engine with the auxiliary battery must be started.
Check how reliable the contact is at the points of connection of the pole clamps. This is especially true for connecting the pole clamp to the engine block or to the body.
Pic. 1.93. Location of battery terminals
If the battery is located at the rear of the vehicle, connect the connecting cables to the appropriate terminals in the engine compartment: positive terminal «+» is under a plastic cover (pic. 1.93) negative terminal «–» connected to the body.

Color marking of connecting cables
Positive cable: in most cases red.
Negative cable: in most cases black, brown or blue.
And – the discharged storage battery; B - auxiliary battery of another vehicle.
Be sure to connect the connecting cables in the order shown below.
Before connecting the connecting cable to the terminal post (+) battery, on some car models it is necessary to open the fuse holder cover* first.
1. One end of the positive cable (+) to the pole (+) dead battery A.
2. Other end of the positive cable (+) to positive conclusion (+) auxiliary battery B.
3. One end of the negative cable (–) to the negative (–) auxiliary battery B.
4. Other end of the negative cable (X) to any massive and firmly screwed metal part to the engine block or to the engine block itself, as far as possible from the discharged battery A.
The negative cable must not be connected to the fuel system devices or to the hydraulic lines of the brake system.
The uninsulated parts of the pole clamps must under no circumstances touch each other. In addition, the connecting cable connected to the positive terminals of the batteries must not come into contact with conductive parts of the vehicle - risk of short circuit.
The connecting cables must be cut in such a way that they do not touch any rotating parts in the engine compartment.
Do not lean low over the batteries - you can get a chemical burn!
Open flames, lit cigarettes, etc. should be kept away from batteries as there is a risk of explosion.
Try to start the engine.
If the engine does not start immediately, after 10 seconds of starting, take a break and restart the start after about half a minute.
On a vehicle with a dead battery, turn on the heating fan and heated rear window so that there is no power surge when the auxiliary battery is connected.
Make sure all lights are turned off as connecting the auxiliary battery may burn out the bulbs due to a power surge.
When the engine has started, disconnect both cables in reverse order.
