Place the automatic transmission selector in position P or N.

Place the manual transmission lever in neutral. Press the clutch pedal all the way down and hold it in this position.

Hold the car in place using the brake pedal.

Turn the ignition key to position 2 (fig. 1.109) to start the engine.

Release the ignition key when the engine starts - the starter should not rotate while the engine is running.

After starting a very hot engine, you need to press the gas pedal slightly.

After starting a cold engine, it will operate with increased noise for some time, since the oil pressure in the hydraulic valve clearance compensators is not yet high enough. This is normal and should not worry you.

If the engine does not start immediately, pause the starting process after 10 seconds and repeat it after half a minute. If the engine still does not start, check the fuel pump electric drive fuse.
