Position 0.
When in this position (pic. 1.108) insert the key into the ignition lock, the steering lock is automatically released (unlock steering wheel), and when the key is removed, the steering lock is turned on again.
Switching on the ignition 1.
The key should be turned to this position and released.
Engine start 2.
In this key position, the engine starts. At the same time, all major consumers of electricity are temporarily switched off.
Switch off the ignition 3.
The key should be turned to this position and released.
ATTENTION: The starter can only be turned on when the engine is not running (Ignition key in position 2). If you operate the starter immediately after turning off the engine, the starter or engine may be damaged.
NOTE: If the ignition key is released in positions 1, 2, or 3, it will automatically return to position 0. If the driver's door is opened while the key is left in the ignition, a warning chime will sound. The signal reminds you to remove the ignition key. If, with the engine off and the ignition on, large consumers of electricity are turned on (e.g. seat heating, rear window heating), they automatically switch off after a certain time to leave enough battery power to start the engine. Automatic deactivation is indicated by a corresponding message on the instrument panel display. Small consumers of electricity, such as parking lights, cannot significantly drain the battery, and they do not turn off.
