The coolant level can only be correctly checked when the engine is off.

To check the coolant level, there is no need to remove the expansion tank - it is transparent (pic. 1.73).
The coolant level with a cold engine should be between the marks «Min» and «Max»; when the engine is warm, the level may be slightly above the mark «max».
Adding coolant
Top up with new coolant only.

Attention: Do not open the cap of the expansion tank when the engine is hot - you can get burned (pic. 1.74).
First, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Then cover the expansion tank cap with a rag and carefully unscrew it counterclockwise. Use only new coolant to top up.
If coolant based on G12 low temperature concentrate is not available under the circumstances, coolant based on another concentrate should not be added to the system. In this case, only water can be added; at the first opportunity, be sure to restore the required composition of the coolant by adding the recommended low-temperature concentrate.
