- use the central door locking system to unlock and lock the door locks,
- turn on and off self-insurance and security alarm system,
- limit the individual door opening mode to the driver's door only,
- turn on interior lighting.
The radio transmitter with batteries is located in the car key head. The radio receiver is located inside the car.
The maximum range depends on many factors. As the battery discharges, the range decreases.
Unlocking and locking the vehicle
To unlock the vehicle, point the key in the direction of the vehicle while within the range of the device and briefly press the unlock button (arrow 1). To lock the vehicle, briefly press the lock button (arrow 2). By double pressing the lock button (arrow 2), You turn off the self-insurance and security alarm system, which is accompanied by a short flash of direction indicators.
During the entire time the unlock and lock buttons are pressed, the control lamp in the key head flashes. If this lamp does not flash, then the battery in the key is discharged. The condition of the battery should be checked at a Volkswagen workshop where the battery will be replaced if necessary.
With the self-insurance and security alarm systems turned on, when the car is unlocked using the radio remote control opening button, all locks are automatically blocked if no car door or trunk lid has been opened within 30 seconds (backdoor). Self-insurance and security alarm system are inactive during these 30 seconds. This prevents accidental unlocking of the vehicle within the range of the radio remote control locks.
Unlocking a separate door
Unlocking when individual door unlock mode is on
To unlock the vehicle, while within the range of the radio remote control, point the key at the vehicle and briefly press the unlock button once (arrow 1).
Now only one driver's door is unlocked. The self-insurance and the security alarm system are immediately turned off, which is accompanied by the flashing of all direction indicators.
By pressing the release button twice (arrow 1) all car locks are unlocked.
Self-insurance and security alarm system are switched off.
Synchronization
If the car is not unlocked by pressing the corresponding button on the remote control, it must be assumed that the codes of the key and the control unit on the car no longer match. This can happen if the control buttons were previously pressed frequently outside the system's coverage area.
The system needs to be synchronized again. The synchronization process lasts no more than 1 minute and is as follows:
1 - press 1 time within one second or the unlock button (arrow 1), or lock button (arrow 2) your remote control key. The car remains locked. However, the control unit recognizes the existing code;
2 - now unlock or lock the car mechanically once using the remote control key;
3 - the key bit was identified as a valid mechanical code. A new replacement code has been agreed between the key and the control unit. The synchronization process has ended.
Uncoded keys can be obtained from a Volkswagen workshop. The second key must, however, be synchronized by a Volkswagen workshop, since the anti-theft code must also be entered into the key head.
