The car is supplied with two regular keys A and one spare key B, which fit all locks. We recommend keeping the backup key in your wallet. The backup key should only be used when the regular key is temporarily misplaced or lost. In addition, a key fob C with a key number and a hidden secret code for the anti-theft system is attached.
Warning: When leaving the vehicle, even if only briefly, always remove the key from the ignition. This is especially important when children are left in the car. They may start the engine or turn on some electrical device, such as a window lifter. There is a risk of injury.
Warning: Remove the key from the ignition lock only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop! Otherwise, the steering lock may engage while driving.
Spare keys
For safety reasons, order spare keys only from a Volkswagen workshop.

Illuminated key
One of the two keys can be backlit. Pressing on the middle of the key head (arrow 1), You turn on the backlight.
To change the battery or lamp, insert a coin into the slot on the side of the key head (arrow 2) and pry off the top of the head; replace the battery or lamp.

Electronic anti-theft system
The electronic anti-theft system prevents your vehicle from being stolen.
An integrated circuit is placed in the head of the key. With its help, when the key is inserted into the ignition switch, the electronic anti-theft system is automatically turned off. The electronic anti-theft system is activated automatically when the ignition is turned off.
