The car comes with two regular keys A and one spare key B, which fit all locks.
We recommend keeping a backup key in your wallet. The backup key should only be used when the regular key is temporarily lost or misplaced.
Additionally, a key fob C is supplied with the key number and a secret code for the anti-theft system.
Warning: When you leave the car, even for a short time, always remove the key from the ignition. This is especially important when children are left in the car. They may start the engine or turn on any electrical device.
Warning: Remove the key from the ignition only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop, otherwise the steering lock may engage while driving.
SPARE KEYS
For safety reasons, please order spare keys only from Volkswagen service centres.
KEYCHAIN
The plastic key fob contains the key numbers required to order spare keys, as well as the secret code for the anti-theft system. Only on the basis of these numbers can you order spare keys from a Volkswagen service center.
You should keep the key fob especially safe, because only these numbers can be used to order spare keys and, if necessary, reprogram the electronic anti-theft system.
Therefore, when selling a car that you own, give this key fob to the buyer as well.
ELECTRONIC ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM
Electronic anti-theft system prevents theft of your car.
The key head contains an integrated circuit. With its help, when the key is inserted into the ignition switch, the electronic anti-theft system is automatically switched off.
The electronic anti-theft system is activated automatically when the ignition is switched off. Therefore, the engine can only be started using the matched coded original Volkswagen key.
Only by using original keys can you count on operating your car without unnecessary problems.
