The central locking system is equipped with self-insurance: after the car is locked from the outside, the door lock buttons are activated. Thus, it is difficult for unauthorized persons to enter the salon.
The central locking system can be controlled from the outside either with a key or with a radio remote control.
Vehicle locking points:
- outside: front doors;
- from inside: central locking control button in the armrest of the driver's door.
Unlocking
When the vehicle is unlocked, all door lock buttons are raised. Self-insurance and security alarm system are immediately turned off, which is accompanied by a short flashing of all direction indicators.
When the vehicle is unlocked, the interior lamps, the switches of which are in the control position from the door contacts, light up for approximately 20 seconds.
Holding the key in the unlock position will open all windows on vehicles with power windows.
In the event of a failure of the central door locking system, you can generally control all locks in the usual way. When the self-insurance is on, the rear doors cannot be opened.
If there is a malfunction in the normal operation of the central locking, this is indicated by the flashing of the illumination of the power window control switches of both the front and rear doors for approximately 15 seconds. You should contact a Volkswagen workshop.
Locking
To lock your vehicle, turn the key in one of the front doors once to the lock position. All side doors and back door will be locked. The self-insurance and security alarm system will immediately be activated, which is accompanied by a short flash of all direction indicators, as well as a characteristic sound signal.
When the car is locked, the interior lights, the switches of which are in the control position from the door contacts, turn off.
The functional readiness of the lanyard is indicated by the flashing of the control lamp located near the driver's door lock button.
Warning: No one should be inside a car that is locked from the outside, and above all, young children should not remain there, since the doors cannot be opened from the inside. This is especially important in the case of vehicles with power windows, because the windows cannot be opened in this case either.
Warning: If the lock button on the driver's door is pressed, all other doors will automatically lock. Since it is difficult to get help from outside when the doors are locked, children should never be left unattended in the vehicle.
If the key in the lock is turned twice in a row within one second, then all side doors and the back door will be locked. Lanyard and burglar alarm system will not be activated.
With the lanyard turned off, the car can be unlocked from the inside. To do this, you should pull the inner handle of the lock of the corresponding door until the lock button is raised. If you pull the lock handle again, the door will open.
On vehicles equipped with power windows or a power sliding sunroof and central locking, left open door windows or sunroof can be centrally closed. To do this, hold the key in the locked position until all windows and the sunroof are completely closed.
The doors can also be locked by pushing in the door lock buttons. Self-locking, however, is not activated. When the driver's door is locked, all other doors are also locked.
When the driver's door is open, it cannot be locked using the lock button. This prevents the driver from being outside a car that is locked from the inside.
When the driver's door is open or not fully closed (incomplete fixation of the locking mechanism) car locks do not work. If the vehicle is locked using the front left door lock, this door, like the driver's door, must be fully closed.
BACKDOOR
Key slots for vertical position (A) The rear door lock is automatically locked or unlocked by the central locking system. In addition, the lock can be individually locked or unlocked with a key.
Key slots for horizontal position (b) the lock remains permanently locked after the rear door is locked. The rear door can then only be unlocked with the key.
To unlock the rear door, turn the key to the right until it stops (With), pull the handle and raise the tailgate.
