Adjusting the electromagnetic locking device of the selector lever (VW Passat B4)

Adjust the position of the electromagnetic stopper by moving it along the mounting slots in such a way as to obtain a gap of 0.3 mm between the stopper pusher and the selector lever (Fig. 4-65).



To check the operation of the stopper, set the selector lever to the "P" position and apply 12 V to the stopper electromagnet. The stopper should lock the selector lever.

Disconnect the voltage from the stopper. The selector lever should move to all positions. The stopper plunger should not engage with the selector lever. Set the selector lever to position "N" and check the operation of the stopper as indicated for position "P".
