Because the brake booster only works when the engine is running (except for vehicles with anti-lock braking system), then on cars with the engine not running, the brake pedal must be pressed harder!
On vehicles with power steering, when the engine is not running, it also takes more effort to turn the steering wheel because the power steering is not working.
The towing rope must be elastic to provide a gentle effect on both the towed and towing vehicles. Use only a rope made of synthetic material or with an elastic intermediate link. However, the safest option is to use a towing rod.
Vehicles with a known or suspected ignition system defect may only be towed with the TSZ-H system relay plug disconnected.
Engines of vehicles with a catalytic converter must not be started by towing over a long distance, see chapter "Exhaust system".
If there is no oil in the gearbox, the vehicle can only be towed with the drive wheels raised.
Towing cars with automatic transmission
Gear lever in position "N".
Maximum towing speed: 50 km/h!
Maximum towing distance: 50 km!
When towing long distances, the front of the vehicle must be raised. Reason: when the engine is not running, the gearbox oil pump does not work, so the gearbox will not be sufficiently lubricated for a long time at high speeds.
