Belt drive gasket for a 2 liter engine:
1 - alternator pulley
2 - ribbed belt for alternator, water pump and crankshaft
3 - water pump pulley
4 - V-belt of the auxiliary pump of the steering mechanism at the amplifier
5 - a pulley of the auxiliary pump of the steering mechanism with the amplifier
6 - crankshaft pulley
7 - tension device
The power steering pump drive belt for a 2 liter engine is considered to be perfectly tensioned if, when pressed with your thumb, the belt, in its segment of movement between both pulleys, can be pressed by approximately 5 mm.
On fig. shows how the tension of this belt is measured.
The nuts of the tensioner are loosened and pressed against the belt. The tensioner is tightened firmly again.
The drive belt of the auxiliary power steering pump of the VR6 engine also drives other components on the front of the engine and therefore does not need additional tension, since this tension is continuously kept automatically at the correct value.
