Belt drive gasket for a 2-liter engine:
1 - alternator pulley
2 - ribbed belt for alternator, water pump and crankshaft
3 - water pump pulley
4 - V-belt of auxiliary pump of power steering mechanism
5 - pulley of auxiliary pump of power steering mechanism
6 - crankshaft pulley
7 - tensioning device
The drive belt of the auxiliary pump of the power steering mechanism for a 2-liter engine is considered to be properly tensioned if, when pressed with the thumb, the belt, on its section of movement between the two pulleys, can be pressed in by approximately 5 mm.
The figure shows how the tension of this belt is measured.
The tensioner nuts are loosened and pressed against the belt. The tensioner is tightened again firmly.

The drive belt of the auxiliary pump of the VR6 engine power steering also drives other units on the front side of the engine and therefore does not require additional tensioning, since this tension is continuously maintained automatically at the correct value.
