Checking the tension level
The operation of the entire vehicle, especially the V-belt drive of the water pump, largely depends on the degree of tension of the V-belt.
Adjustment of tension and replacement of the V-belt must be carried out in specialized workshops or at a Volkswagen dealer.
Caution: To avoid injury, do not stand near the V-belt while the engine is running. If you need to check the V-belt tension, turn off the engine and allow it to cool to avoid burns from contact with hot engine components.
Never touch the radiator fan as it operates depending on engine temperature and may turn on unexpectedly even when the ignition is off.
