Replacing the cable
1. Remove the cover from under the instrument panel.
2. Remove the cover located on the side of the hood lock handle.
3. Open the hood, remove the radiator grille and disconnect the cable (figure R:19).

4. From inside the vehicle, remove the screws securing the hood lock handle bracket and remove the bracket.
5. Bend the cable clamp outward and release the handle. Remove the cable.

6. Unscrew the two mounting bolts and remove the hood lock (figure R:20).

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Please note the following:
8. First, fix the cable to the handle, and then install the handle to the car.
9. Route the cable on the vehicle so that it is not stretched or kinked.
10. Secure the cable to the lock and bend it.
11. Check the operation of the hood lock and adjust it using the screw shown by the arrow in Figure P:19.
Adjusting the latch
The upper hood latch is secured with two small bolts. If the hood is difficult to close, adjust the upper spring latch. To do this, loosen the lock nut and turn the latch shaft held by the spring to obtain the required length. The required adjustment is achieved empirically.
Lubricate the latch and safety bracket with a small amount of engine oil.
