General information about the body and equipment (VW Golf 1)

The bodies of Golf, Jetta and Scirocco cars undergo anti-corrosion treatment during production, which is why they have been guaranteed to be protected against corrosion for 6 years since 1979.

The front fenders are bolted on and are easy to replace, but if you don't have the special equipment to paint, it's best to prepare and paint the fender before installation, leaving this work to a professional.

You can replace the trunk lid/tailgate, front fenders, hood and doors yourself, but the rest of the body panels are welded and can only be replaced by a specialist.

When installing body parts, do not forget to install sound insulation and seals in their places, and also treat the joints of the body panels with mastic to prevent water or condensation from getting in.

Remove the plastic clips (buttons) of the interior trim panels using a large screwdriver, pressing them away from the body together with the trim. Insert the screwdriver directly under the button so as not to damage the trim.
