Doors - replacement
1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
2. The door stop is secured with a pin and a retaining ring. Remove the retaining ring from the bottom of the stop and knock out the pin (figure P:8).

3. The door is secured to the A-pillar with single hinge bolts that pass through the upper and lower hinges (on Scirocco models and on the rear doors of all 4-door models, each hinge is secured with two bolts).
NOTE: The rear door hinge bolts have Allen heads; the head socket is very small, so it is important that the key is in good condition and fits correctly into the bolt head socket. If the socket edges are torn off, you will have to grind down the bolt head and extract the remaining threaded part with an extractor.
4. Loosen the door mounting bolts while having an assistant support the door.
5. The door is installed in reverse order (you will need an assistant to support the door while installing the mounting bolts).
6. The door stop pin should be inserted from above and the locking ring from below, then if the locking ring falls out, the pin will remain in place and the door stop will continue to function.
Door trim panel - removal and installation
To access the lock and window lift mechanism, you must remove the trim of the corresponding door. Perform this operation as follows:
1. Unscrew the door lock button.
2. Remove the inside door lock handle, then remove the countersunk screw and lock washer.
3. Remove the caps from the screws securing the trim panel to the door frame and unscrew the screws (figure R:9).

4. Remove the trim from the window handle and unscrew the screw. Remove the handle and spacer ring.
5. Remove the two screws from the armrest. On models with an armrest integrated with the inside door handle, the top mounting screw is located under the plug (figure R:10). Rotate the armrest upward 90 degrees around the top mounting point, this will release the top mounting point and separate the armrest from the door.

6. Press the trim panel away from the door frame using a flat-head screwdriver, releasing the clips one by one (figure R:11) - the fasteners must remain on the upholstery.

7. Install the trim in the reverse order. Before installing, degrease the window handle mounting screw and apply Loctite to its threads to secure the threaded connections.
