Removal and installation the lifting mechanism and drive cable of the front section of the hatch (VW Tiguan 1)

Removal

Remove the front section of the hatch. Remove the rear section of the hatch. Remove the frame. Remove the hatch drive motor. Remove the rear part of the frame. After removing the rear part, the lifting mechanism can be extended to the rear. Proceed as follows.

Caution: Remember the position of the cables before removing them to avoid mistakes when installing them later. Do not move the lifting mechanism by holding the slide.

The section lifting mechanisms can only be moved by the "arrow" places on the slides "2" and not by the wings "3". If you pull the mechanism out holding the wings, it will rise. Pull the moving parts of the mechanism "2" out of the "arrow" guide using a suitable screwdriver in the backward direction "1".



Disconnect cable "2" from runners "1" and move it toward "arrow A". Extend mechanism "1" from guides "3" toward "arrow B".





Remove cable "2" from guides "3" towards "arrow B".

Installation

Instructions: The guides may only be cleaned if heavily soiled. Use solvent -D 009 401 04- for this purpose. Afterwards, lubricate the sliding surfaces of the guides with lithium grease -G 052 147 A2-. Lubricating the drive cables is prohibited.

Insert the drive mechanism "3" into the guide "1". Make sure that the slider "2" is directed backwards when installing the mechanism into the guides "1".

Insert cable "2" into guide "3" with movement towards "arrow B". Insert cable "2" into mechanism slide "1" with movement towards "arrow A".

Instructions: Do not move the lifting mechanism by holding the slide. Move the lifting mechanisms forward on both sides of the opening until they are fully lowered into place.

Move the mechanisms only by the "arrow" places on the runners "2", and not by the wings "3". Install the rear part of the frame. Install the sunroof drive electric motor. Install the frame. Install the rear section of the sunroof. Install the front section of the sunroof. After completing all work, initialize all panoramic sunroof drives.
