Dismantling



Remove the cylinder head protective cover, see the relevant section.

Turn the engine to the top dead center position of the 1st cylinder.

Remove the upper part of the timing belt, see the relevant section.

(15-260) First remove bearing caps 5, 1 and 3. Unscrew caps 2 and 4 crosswise.

Caution! Before removing the bearing caps, mark their position.


Remove the camshaft.

The camshaft wheel sits on a conically pointed shaft and after unscrewing the nut can be easily removed with light blows from a rubber mallet.

Attention! If the adjusting washers are removed to adjust the valve clearance, mark their installation first.


Installation



Replace the camshaft sealing ring before installation.

If the camshaft was removed, tighten the bolts to 45 Nm. Don't forget the washer.

If the adjusting washers were removed to adjust the valve clearance, install them according to the markings and with the designation facing down.

Lubricate the shaft.

Attention! When installing the shaft, pay attention to the fact that the cams of the first cylinder (from the toothed belt side) looked up. Lightly lubricate the working surfaces of the cams.

(15-098) Test-fit the bearing caps and pay attention to the centering of the holes. The caps must be installed so that the holes in the caps and the cylinder head correspond to each other. Pay attention to the markings on the caps.

Install covers 2 and 4. Pay attention to the centering. Tighten the new nuts crosswise with a torque of 20 Nm.

Install covers 5, 1 and 3 according to the marking. Lightly tap cover 5 to the end of the shaft. Tighten new nuts to a torque of 20 Nm.

Install the timing belt, see the relevant section.

When the engine is cold, adjust the valves, see the relevant section.

Check the fuel pump start, see the relevant section,

Fit the protective cover, see the relevant section.

Attention! After 1000 km of running, check the valve clearance with the engine warmed up and adjust if necessary, see the corresponding section.
