Note: Only G 12 plus may be used as a concentrate - in accordance with TL VW 774 F. Characteristic lilac color.
Note: G 12 plus (according to TL VW 774 F) may be mixed with previously used G 12 concentrate.
Note: G 12 Plus and concentrates marked «according to TL VW 774 F» prevent freezing of the coolant and the formation of corrosion and scale. In addition, they increase the boiling point of the coolant. Therefore, throughout the year, the cooling system must necessarily work with an antifreeze and anti-corrosion concentrate.
The freezing point of the coolant must be at least -25°C (in countries with an arctic climate - at least -35°C).
It is also forbidden to reduce the proportion of concentrate in the coolant in the warm season or when operating in countries with a warm climate by adding water to the cooling system. The share of concentrate should be at least 40%.
If, due to climatic conditions, the freezing point must be lowered, the proportion of G 12 plus concentrate can be increased, but not more than 60% (the freezing point in this case will be about -40°C). If this limit is exceeded, the freezing point will rise again and, in addition, the heat capacity of the coolant will decrease.
When replacing the radiator, heater heat exchanger, cylinder head or cylinder head gasket, the drained coolant must not be reused.
Recommended Mixing Ratios
Note: The amount of coolant to be filled may differ depending on the vehicle equipment.
Reattach the water hose to the radiator fitting.
Connect the lower water hose to the socket.
Install soundproofing.
With Cooling System Filler
Screw the adapter for the cooling system tester onto the expansion tank.
Top up the coolant using the cooling system filler.
Without Cooling System Charger
Pic. 2.188. The mark on the body of the expansion tank
Slowly fill coolant up to the upper mark of the shaded field on the expansion tank (pic. 2.188).
Close expansion tank.
Vehicles without auxiliary heater
Start the engine and hold the engine speed for approx. 3 min about 2000 min–1.
Leave the engine running until the radiator fan turns on.
Vehicles with auxiliary heater
Check the coolant level and top up if necessary. When the engine is warm, the coolant level should be at the top mark, and when the engine is cold, in the middle of the shaded field.
Attention: The auxiliary heater may only be switched on after the coolant circuit has been filled as described below.
