Checking the axial clearance

Pull the lever down firmly in the direction and press it up again (Fig. 4.39).

Checking the radial clearance

Press the wheel firmly at the bottom in an inward and outward direction (Fig. 4.40).

Note: Both checks should show no noticeable or visible "play".

Note: When performing checks, observe the suspension joint.

Note: Allow for possible play in the wheel bearing or "slack" in the upper shock absorber cushion.

Note: Check the boot for damage, replace the joint if necessary.
