Warning: After working on the front wheel drive shafts, check the position of the shaft anti-vibration weights in accordance with the dimensions specified in subsection "Features of the device".
Remove the wheel cap. Brake the wheels with the main brake system and unscrew the wheel hub nut. Raise the front of the car on the desired side and place it on a stand. Remove the front wheel. Unscrew the two bolts securing the telescopic strut of the front suspension to the steering knuckle (Fig. 5-2).
Fig. 5-2. Telescopic stand fastenings:
I - upper;
II - lower.
The arrow shows the bolts that secure the strut to the steering knuckle.
Warning. The front wheel camber is adjusted by changing the position of the bolts that secure the telescopic strut to the steering knuckle. Therefore, before unscrewing the bolts, mark them so that when installing the strut, they are tightened in the same position.

Loosen the bolts securing the inner joint of the drive shaft to the flange of the differential output shaft (Fig. 4-81). Using a hammer with a soft striker, press the drive shaft out of the wheel hub. Remove the drive shaft.

The installation of the wheel drive shaft is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- depending on the configuration, replace the glued gasket of the inner joint of the shaft;
- tighten the bolts securing the front suspension telescopic strut according to the marks made when removing the shaft and tighten them to a torque of 9.5 kgf·m.
Removal and installation of the right wheel drive roller shaft is performed as described above. Depending on the configuration, first remove the air shield from the front suspension arm. To remove the left wheel drive roller shaft:
- sling the power unit;
- completely loosen the bolt securing the front gearbox mount bracket and the bolt securing the front engine mount bracket;
- raise the power unit. Without raising the vehicle, loosen the hex nut securing the wheel drive shaft;
- loosen the bolts securing the shaft to the differential output shaft flange;
- completely loosen the bolts at the end of the lower suspension arm to remove the wheel drive shaft.
Note: Apply alignment marks first.
- turn the car wheel to the left, if necessary placing a shim of wood or similar material between the suspension strut and the wheel housing;
- move the power unit towards the front of the vehicle and remove the wheel drive shaft.
The left wheel drive shaft is installed in the reverse order of removal.
To prevent accidental displacement of the joint when installing the wheel drive shaft, secure the joint with adhesive tape. Remove the tape only immediately before tightening the bolts securing the joint to the differential output shaft flange.
