To remove, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Disconnect the spark plug wires and ignition coil wire from the ignition distributor. Remove the ignition distributor cap. By turning the crankshaft of the engine, set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC position of the compression stroke, aligning the mark on the flywheel with the pointer in the hatch of the clutch housing (pic. 2-198). Disconnect the ignition distributor connector. Loosen the screws securing the ignition distributor and remove it.
When installing, make sure that the piston of the 1st cylinder is in the TDC position of the compression stroke. Install the ignition distributor in place, making sure that the clutch cams fit into the grooves of the camshaft. Install rotor and distributor cap. Connect high voltage wires. Tighten the screws securing the distributor housing without tightening them. Check the setting of the initial ignition timing and tighten the screws securing the distributor housing.
