Removal and installation the gear shift lever (VW Passat B3)

If the gearbox is removed, it is advisable to remove the gearshift levers together with the attached cable rods. This eliminates the need to adjust the gearshift lever after installing the gearbox (special tool required).

Removal

Unscrew the axial bolt around which the corresponding lever rotates and remove the lever.



Guide lever "2" enters with its sliding shoe into the guide rail of the gearshift lever "1". Before installation, treat the guide rail with MoS ₂ grease.

Tighten lever "1" first, then lever "2" firmly. Always replace the self-locking nut of lever "2". Tightening torques see figure 34-1976.
