Removing
1. Moisten the windshield with water.
2. Turn on the wiper and let it run for a short time. Turn off the cleaner with the switch. The wiper brushes are set to their original position after every second shutdown, so they should be monitored.
Attention! The windshield wiper on Golf/Touran vehicles has a variable parking position function (APS). This means that after every second turning off of the cleaner, its brushes are set either to the parking position or move slightly upwards from the parking position.
3. Mark the position of the wiper blades on the windshield by sticking tape parallel to the rubber band of the wiper.
4. Open the hood and use a screwdriver to remove cap 1 from the lever axis (see illustration).
5. Loosen the nut about two turns, but do not completely loosen it.
6. Move the left glass cleaner arm in one direction and then in the other direction to loosen its fit on the shaft. After that, completely unscrew the nut and remove the lever from the shaft. You can use an appropriate puller, eg HAZET 1966-00/05.
Installation
7. Make sure the wiper motor is in the home position. To do this, turn on the ignition, then turn on the cleaner motor for a short time and turn it off.
8. Install the brush holder on the shaft and, using the marks made with adhesive tape before removing the wiper, set it to the position in which it was before removal.
9. Screw the arm nut onto the axle and tighten it by hand.
10. Check again the original position of the levers. To do this, moisten the windshield with water and briefly turn on the cleaner. After every second turning off of the cleaner, the levers must return to their original position, and during operation they must not go beyond the edge of the windshield.
If necessary, remove the lever again by unscrewing the fastening nut and repeat the adjustment.
11. Screw the lever mounting nut on the axle and tighten it with a torque of 20 Nm.
12. Close the nut with a cap.
