Removal

1. Remove the lower engine compartment splash shield.

2. On a TDI diesel engine, loosen the clamps and remove the pipe connecting the charge air cooler to the turbocharger.

3. If the belt is to be reinstalled, use a marker or paint to mark the direction of belt rotation.



4. Loosen the tension and remove the poly V-belt. To do this, use a wrench to turn the poly V-belt tensioner counterclockwise and remove the poly V-belt, starting from the generator.

Installation

1. Using a 16mm spanner, turn the poly V-belt tensioner clockwise and install the poly V-belt onto the engine pulleys. Lastly, install the poly V-belt onto the alternator pulley. When reinstalling the belt, install it in accordance with the arrow previously applied.

2. Smoothly release the belt tensioner mechanism, which will automatically tension the poly V-belt.

3. On a TDI diesel engine, install the pipe connecting the charge air radiator to the turbocharger and secure it with clamps.

4. Start the engine and check the operation of the belt.

5. Install the lower engine compartment splash shield.
