Water pump for diesel engines

- 1 - bolt;
- 2 - guide roller;
- 3 - bolt;
- 4 - water pump;
- 5 - sealing ring
Removal
1. Remove the lower engine compartment splash guards.
2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.
3. Remove the poly V-belt.
TDI diesel engine
4. Remove the pipe connecting the charge air radiator and the intake manifold.
5. Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC in the compression stroke.
6. Loosen the timing belt tension and remove it from the camshaft pulley, fuel pump pulley and water pump pulley.
Caution: Use a clean rag to protect the timing belt from coolant under the water pump.
7. Unscrew the bolt (1) and remove the guide roller (2) from the engine.
8. Remove the three bolts and remove the water pump. Remove the sealing ring from the water pump.
Installation
1. Clean the surface to install the sealing ring.
2. Lubricate the new O-ring with fresh coolant and install it on the pump.
3. Install the water pump so that the pump housing plug is at the bottom.

4. Secure the water pump with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 15 Nm.
5. Install the guide roller and secure it with a new bolt, tightening it to a torque of 40 Nm and turning it through an angle of 90°.
6. Install the toothed drive belt.
7. Install the poly V-belt.
TDI diesel engine
8. Install the pipe connecting the charge air radiator and the intake manifold and secure it with clamps.
9. Fill the engine cooling system with coolant.
