Warning: When opening the expansion tank cap on a hot engine, care must be taken as escaping vapors can cause severe burns. To do this, cover the expansion tank cap with a thick layer of cloth and slowly unscrew the cap until a hissing sound is heard. After the hissing stops, slowly unscrew and remove the cap from the expansion tank.
Execution order
1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Remove the lower engine compartment splash shield.
3. Remove the cap from the expansion tank.
4. Place a suitable container under the radiator.

5. Unscrew the screw plug that closes the outlet hole (indicated by the arrow). The plug is located in the lower radiator hose.
Engines 1.6-/ 1.8-/ 2.3-I

6. Disconnect the additional hose (indicated by the arrow) supply of coolant to the oil heat exchanger. The oil heat exchanger is located in the flange of the oil filter.
Diesel engines

7. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the additional hose (indicated by the arrow) supply of coolant to the oil heat exchanger. The oil heat exchanger is located in the flange of the oil filter.
