Removal and installation the door lock (VW Golf 4)

The door lock, window lifter and loudspeaker are mounted on one door bracket.

The door lock can only be removed together with the bracket.

Removal

1. The door bracket can only be removed after releasing the door glass from the window lifter clamps. To do this, lower the door glass to the level of the technological holes in the bracket and release the clamps.

2. If the door has electric windows and they are not working for some reason, you can lower the door window manually.

3. Remove the front door trim.

4. Remove the lock cylinder housing.

5. Release the outer door opening handle retainer.

6. Remove the bracket with units from the front door.



7. Using a mandrel, release the door lock fastening clips (1).



8. Using a screwdriver (3), separate the door lock (4) with the transition corner bracket (1 – bracket, 2 – cable) from the door bracket.





9. Remove the safety rod (1) from the door lock by turning the door lock in the direction of the arrow (2 – cable rod).

10. Release the cable traction housing fastening to the door lock.

11. Turn the end of the cable tie rod 90° and remove it from the hole in the door lock lever.

Installation

1. Move the lock lever in the direction of the arrow (1 – lever, 2 – spring, 3 – screwdriver).

2. Using a screwdriver blade (3), hang the spring (2) on the door lock, moving it in the directions shown by the arrows.

3. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

4. Check the operation of the door lock.
