The cold start accelerator must be pulled out to start a cold engine regardless of the ambient temperature (only in extreme cold can starting ability improve when the KSB button is kept pressed).
After a few minutes of driving, the button should be pushed back in. If you sometimes forget to press it back, then nothing terrible will happen. The engine will not be damaged.
Job
The cold start accelerator acts like an injection regulator (see next, section): Through the lever, the KSB rod acts on the injection regulator piston and turns it in the same way. like fuel pressure at high engine speeds - back. The roller ring is therefore rotated by approx. 2.5°in the direction «earlier».
Additional boost function
For comfort reasons, the cold start accelerator is combined with a speed booster. When the handle is pulled out, the idle speed is slightly increased to reduce the particularly strong shaking of a cold engine.
Of course, the KSB linkage can remain slightly extended even when the engine is warm for a slight increase in speed.
Vibration damper
The injection pump is equipped with a so-called strong beat damper. It reduces vibrations of the power unit during sharp actions of the pedal gas. A small shock absorber is installed in the split control lever of the injection pump, which at first «swallows» spontaneous gas supply and then reduces the opening speed of the control lever. This is done so over time that constant acceleration is not always possible.
Note: Anyone who constantly pulls on the gas pedal is in danger of driving without a shock absorber, without which the vibrations of the power unit will be too high and the ride will be uncomfortable.
