Please note: On Golf 60 and Golf Rallye vehicles the side windows are glued to the body and cannot be replaced in the manner described below.
1. If an old gasket is used to install a new glass, it must be cleaned of any glass residue, see Figure 11.8.

2. Place the rubber gasket on the edge of the glass. Press the decorative frame into the gasket, if it is provided for this type of gasket.
3. Insert an insulated electrical wire or strong packing cord into the outer groove of the gasket, along its entire perimeter, opening the walls of the groove with a medium-sized screwdriver and pressing the wire or cord to the bottom of the groove. The ends of the wire should cross in the middle of the lower edge of the glass and protrude long enough for a confident grip with your hand.
4. Apply the glass to the window opening from the outside of the car. Slowly remove the wire from the middle of the car so as to transfer the lip of the gasket 2 to them over the edge of the window opening 4, see Figure 11.8.
5. While slowly pulling out the wire inside the car, the second person should hit the glass gasket from the outside with their palm to press it in.
