Fault recognition and error indication
The onboard power supply management system is equipped with a self-diagnostic function that makes it easier to find errors. For troubleshooting, use the tester -VAS 5051A- in the "Guided Fault Finding".
Instruction: The following pictures show the work on the rear light in the sidewall on the left side. Work on the rear light in the sidewall on the right side is carried out in the same way. The rear light in the sidewall contains, in addition to a separate turn signal lamp, two unifilar bulbs, which, depending on the configuration, perform the function of a brake light and tail light.
Overview of mounting the rear light in the sidewall of the body

- 3 - Left stop and side light bulb -M21- or right brake and side light bulb -M22- and left brake and side light bulb 2 -M58- or right brake and side light bulb 2 -M59 -. 12 V, R 21 W, replace

Removal and installation of a back lantern in a body sidewall
Instruction: The following pictures show the removal and installation work on the rear light in the sidewall on the left side. Work on the rear light in the sidewall on the right side is carried out in the same way. The rear light in the sidewall contains two unifilar bulbs, which, depending on the configuration, perform the function of a brake light and tail light.
Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers, remove the ignition key. Remove both securing screws -arrows-.
Open cover -1- in luggage compartment side.
To unlock, turn screw -1- in direction of -arrow- by approx. 90°as far as it will go.
Pull rear light -1- in -direction of arrow-, paying attention to lengths of connected wires, out of retainer -2- and out of opening in bodywork.
Disconnect and unlock connector -2- and remove rear light sensor -1-.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Turn screw -1- in direction of -arrow- by approx. 90°as far as it will go and close cover in side panel.
Instructions: When connecting the tail light connector, the side of the body must be "hear" click.
Insert connector. Push rear light holder -1- correctly into side locking mechanism -2- until it clicks audibly. Tighten the mounting bolts to the prescribed torque. After installation, check the operation of the rear light and the size of the gaps between the light and the body.
Replacing the taillight bulbs in the sidewall
Instructions: The following illustrations show how to replace the left rear light bulb -M4- in the side panel on the left side of the vehicle. Replacing the right rear light bulb -M2- in the body side panel on the right side is carried out in the same way. The rear light in the sidewall contains two unifilar bulbs, which, depending on the configuration, perform the function of a brake light and tail light.
Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers, remove the ignition key. Remove tail light from body side. Press retainers for rear light in -direction of arrow- and remove bulb holder -1- from rear light.
Press the respective rear light bulb -1- slightly into the socket, turn in the direction of the arrow- and pull it out of the socket. Rear light bulb: 12V, 21W.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Instructions: When installing the tail light bulb socket, make sure that it is securely fastened with all three latches in the tail light housing.
