Fault detection and error indication

The on-board network control system is equipped with a self-diagnosis function, which facilitates the search for errors. To search for faults, use the tester -VAS 5051A- in the "Guided Fault Finding" mode.

Instructions: The following pictures show the work on the rear light in the rear door on the left side of the right-hand traffic vehicles. The work on the rear light in the rear door on the right side is performed similarly. In addition to the rear light bulb, the rear light also includes a fog light bulb in the rear door. The fog light bulb in right-hand traffic vehicles is only in the left rear light, in left-hand traffic vehicles only in the right rear light and is not available as a spare part in US and Canadian vehicles.

Rear light in the rear door

1 - Fastening nuts, 3 Nm, observe tightening sequence
2 - Right rear side light bulb -M2- or left rear side light bulb "M4", replace
3 - Rear light housing in the tailgate
4 - Left rear fog light bulb "L46" or right rear fog light bulb "L47", replace

Removal and installation the rear light (rear light unit) in the back door

Instructions: The following pictures show the removal and installation work on the rear light (rear light unit) in the rear door of the left side. Removal and installation on the rear light (rear light unit) in the rear door on the right side they are done in a similar way.

Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers, remove the ignition key. Unclip the service cover "1" in the direction of the arrow from the trim.

Unlock and disconnect the plug connector "1". Unscrew the mounting nuts "2" and "3" and remove the rear light from the rear door.

Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Instructions: The rear light connector in the rear door should click into place with an audible click when inserted.

Insert the rear light into the body opening and position it at the top and center for installation. Tighten the upper nut "2" first, then the lower nut "3" to the specified tightening torque. After installing the light, check the gap with the body.

Replacing the rear light bulb in the rear door

Instructions: The following pictures show the work on replacing the lamp on the left rear light "M4" in the rear door on the left side of right-hand traffic vehicles. Replacing the lamp on the right rear light "M2" in the rear door on the right side of left-hand traffic vehicles is done in a similar way.

Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers, remove the ignition key. Unclip the service cover "1" in the direction of the arrow from the trim.

Unlock and disconnect plug connector "1". Carefully press the rear light bulb socket "1" out of the retainer using a suitable screwdriver.

Remove the rear light bulb "1" in the direction of the arrow from the socket "2". Rear light bulb: 12 V, 5 W.

Installation in reverse order.

Instructions: The rear light connector in the rear door should click into place with an audible click when inserted.

Check the operation of the rear light (block back lights).

Replacing the rear fog light bulb in the rear door

Instructions: The rear light bulb in the rear door also includes the rear fog light bulb. The rear fog light bulb in right-hand traffic vehicles is located only in the left rear light, in left-hand traffic vehicles it is located in the right rear light and is not available as a spare part in US and Canadian vehicles. The following illustrations show the work on replacing the bulb in the left rear fog light "L46" in the rear door on the left side of right-hand traffic vehicles. Replacing the bulb in the right rear fog light "L47" in the rear door on the right side of left-hand traffic vehicles is done in a similar way.

Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers, remove the ignition key. Unclip the service cover "1" in the direction of the arrow from the trim.
