Removing the turbocharger
Absolute cleanliness must be observed when carrying out any work on the turbocharger. Therefore, the joints and their perimeter must be thoroughly cleaned before disconnection; put the removed parts only on a clean surface; protect exposed parts from possible contamination. Installed new parts must be clean. Do not work with compressed air near the car where repairs are carried out: the car must not be moved. The supercharger is removed as follows:
Disconnect wires from battery.
Remove the starter on a car with an automatic transmission (see chapter "Starter").
Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the turbocharger.
Disconnect the oil line from the supercharger together with the retaining clip.
Remove air pipes between intake manifold and turbocharger and between air filter and turbocharger
Disconnect the oil drain line from the crankcase and its support on the cylinder block.
Disconnect the fixing bolts from below that fix the turbocharger at the intake of the exhaust pipe
To do this, use a 12-sided head SW12, an extension and a cardan joint from a set of socket wrenches. After unscrewing the bolts, remove the turbocharger by pointing it upwards.
Installation
When installing, pay special attention to the following:
First install the turbocharger in such a way that it can then be moved a little further. Therefore, do not immediately tighten the fastening nuts at the exhaust pipe.
Screw in the four fixing bolts for fastening the supercharger at the outlet elbow, then tighten securely, taking into account the tightening torques of the threaded connections.
And only then finally tighten the nuts at the exhaust pipe.
Before connecting the oil pipeline, first pour a little fresh engine oil into the connecting pipe near the supercharger.
After installing the turbocharger, do not immediately start the engine at high speeds, since the lubrication of the supercharger is not yet ensured. First let the engine run for 1 minute at idle.
