Removal the starter in a car with an automatic transmission (VW Golf 1)

In cars with an automatic transmission, the starter is located at the rear, near the gearbox housing.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

Unscrew the bolt at the top of the starter.

Remove the axle shaft from the gearbox.

Remove the insulating sheet.

Remove the bolts at the bottom of the starter.

Disconnect the starter wires.

Turn the steering wheel to the right.

Turn the axle back and move it up.

Turn the starter drive side up and pull it down between the axle shaft and the engine

The tightening torque for threaded connections is 16 Nm.

Removal the solenoid relay

Remove the starter.

Disconnect the wire between the relay and the starter.

Unscrew the three screws on the relay flange.

Remove the relay.
