The rear light bulbs can be accessed from the trunk side.
In the Golf model produced before July 1980. (see picture top left): Fold the lid fixing clamps to the side and remove the lid.
Move the fixing clamps again on both sides: carefully pull out the metal support of the lamps.
In the "Golf" model released after August 1980, in the "Jetta" model (see picture top right): Move the fixing clamps of the lamp support on both sides: remove the support.
Replacing incandescent lamps is done in a similar way. Lightly press the lamp in the socket; turn left and remove.
To replace the rear light glass, unscrew 4 nuts.
When reassembling, make sure that the brown ground cable, secured to the body of the lamp, is again connected to the body; otherwise, the lamps in the lantern will not work properly.
