Door contact switch (VW Golf 1)

The contact switch is installed in the doorway. The interior lamp is turned on and off by the corresponding switch position. If the door contact switch does not function properly, the following instructions should be taken into account.



Pull the contact pin outwards with a strong movement: the switch remains mounted in the door (the front passenger door must be closed).

If the light now lights up, it means the defect appeared due to corrosion.

Remove the Phillips head screw and take out the door contact switch

Clean all contact surfaces without exception until they shine.

If the contact pin is bent or jammed in its guide, a new door contact switch must be installed.

Make sure that the connected wire does not fall into the doorway.

If the wire is stuck in the doorway, you will need to remove the mat on the side of the lower compartment to get the wire out.
