Instructions: If large quantities of metal shavings are found in the engine during repairs, this may be due to a faulty connecting rod bearing. To avoid further damage, after repairs, it is necessary to: thoroughly clean the oil channels, replace the oil filter. The oil level should not exceed the 'max' mark on the dipstick. Otherwise, the catalytic converter may be damaged!


Motor oil, oil filling volumes, motor oil specification:
  • With oil filter 3.6 l
  • With oil filter 4.0 l

With oil filter 4.0 l

  • 1 - Oil dipstick, the oil level should not be above the MAX mark!
  • 2 - Oil radiator
  • 3 - O-ring, replace
  • 4 - Cooling system pipe for oil cooler, tightening torque of bracket to engine crankcase: 20 Nm
  • 5 - 8 Nm
  • 6 - Cover, replace seal if damaged
  • 7 - Sealing ring, replace if damaged
  • 8 - Oil filter, 20 Nm. Disconnect with oil filter wrench "3417", follow the instructions for installing the oil filter, with a check valve
  • 9 - Timing gear housing, when installing additionally use silicone sealant -D176 501 A1-. To facilitate installation, screw 2 M6x80 mounting pins into the camshaft housing and cylinder block. To facilitate insertion of the timing gear housing, screw the oil pan with 2 bolts
  • 10 - 10 Nm
  • 11 - Fastening bolt, replace. There should be no oil and/or grease on the clamping surfaces of the bolts, insert after lubricating the threads with oil. Fix the belt pulley from turning using the counter support "3415". The angle of additional tightening can be measured using a conventional angle measuring disc
  • 12 - Belt pulley. There should be no oil or grease on the mating surfaces. Secure the belt pulley from turning using the counter support "3415"
  • 13 - O-ring, replace
  • 14 - Support bushing. There should be no oil or grease on the mating surfaces of the support bushing
  • 15 - Gasket, replace if damaged
  • 16 - Sprocket for oil pump drive
  • 17 - 20 Nm and turn 90°, replace
  • 18 - Oil pump sprocket, secure with support "T10172"
  • 19 - Oil pump drive chain, mark direction of travel before removing (installation position)
  • 20 - 10 Nm
  • 21 - Oil level and temperature sensor "G266", replace if damaged
  • 22 - Oil drain plug, 30 Nm, with fixed lip seal, replace
  • 23 - 13 Nm, loosen and tighten bolts only on the flywheel side using the "T10058" attachment
  • 24 - 45 Nm
  • 25 - Oil pan, clean the seating surface before installation, apply silicone sealant during installation -D 176 600 A1-
  • 26 - 25 Nm
  • 27 - Oil pump, replace only as an assembly
  • 28 - 5 Nm
  • 29 - Oil separator

  • 1 - Mark max. (Max.)
  • 2 - The min tag. (min.)
  • a - if the oil level is above the grooved field and below the max mark - do not add oil!
  • b - actual level in the shaded area: engine oil can be topped up
  • c - when the oil level is from the min mark to the grooved field: add max 0.5 l of oil!
