The engine flywheel is equipped with a toothed rim of the engine speed sensor. This toothed rim is fixed to the back of the crankshaft by three bolts tightened to a torque of 10 N·m. The appearance of the flywheel has already been shown in Fig. 383. Note that the inserted set screw should protrude 2.5-3.0 mm above the surface (dimension a). To loosen the flywheel mounting bolts, secure it in a stationary position (for example, by inserting a screwdriver into the flywheel ring gear) and loosen the flywheel bolts. The flywheel bolts cannot be reused.
Attention! If the friction surface of the flywheel has scratches, which may happen, for example, when replacing a slipping clutch, then replace the flywheel.
The flywheel ring gear cannot be replaced separately from the flywheel itself. If its teeth are damaged, the flywheel together with the ring gear should be replaced. At the same time, the starter pinion teeth should also be checked, as they may also be worn out.
Tighten the bolts to 60 Nm and then turn them another 90°.
