The anti-skid system is activated automatically after the engine is started. If necessary, this system can be switched off and on again by pressing a button.
When the anti-skid system is switched off, the ESP indicator lamp comes on.
Normally the anti-skid system is always on. Only in certain exceptional cases, when wheel spin is desired, is it preferable to switch the system off.
For example:
- when driving with snow chains;
- when driving on deep snow or loose ground;
- when rocking a stuck car.
After passing such sections, it is necessary to turn on the anti-skid system again.
Note: To ensure proper operation of the anti-skid system, it is necessary that all wheels are equipped with identical tires with the same degree of wear. Different tire running-in paths may lead to an undesirable decrease in engine power.
Warning: Even the anti-skid system cannot overcome the limits set by the laws of physics. This should not be forgotten, especially when driving on slippery or wet roads.
Attention: Therefore, it is always necessary to coordinate the vehicle's driving mode with the condition of the road surface and general traffic conditions.
