In addition, depending on the model of the installed engine and the vehicle configuration (for example, the presence of an automatic transmission, a factory-installed towing hitch, and air conditioning) the engine cooling system may have an additional electric fan with automatic control.
Warning: After the engine has stopped, the fan may continue to run for some time (up to 10 minutes) rotate – also after the ignition is turned off.
A stopped fan may also suddenly start rotating again after some time if:
- the coolant temperature increased due to the temperature difference in the engine;
- when the engine is hot, the air temperature in the engine compartment increases due to intense solar radiation.
