Removing
1. Loosen the front wheel mounting bolts, then raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the wheel.
Warning: Be sure to replace all pads on the same vehicle axle, even if only one pad has reached the wear limit. If the brake pads are to be reinstalled, they must be marked before removal.
2. If equipped, remove the wear sensor from the inner brake pad and disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
3. Using a screwdriver blade as a lever on the outside of the caliper, remove the retaining spring.
4. Remove the dust caps from the inner ends of the guide bolts.
5. Unscrew the guide pins from the caliper.
6. Raise the caliper with the inner shoe and use a soft wire to tie it to the A-pillar.
Warning: The brake caliper must not hang from the brake hose. The brake hose must not be stretched or kinked.
7. Remove the inner pad from the caliper piston and the outer pad from the caliper holder.
Installation
The location of the front brake pads before installing the caliper
Warning: Do not depress the brake pedal with the brake pads removed.
Warning: After installing new brake pads, avoid hard braking during the first 200 km of the vehicle.
1. Clean off dust and dirt from the caliper and rust from the edge of the brake disc. If the pads are serviceable, clean them using a wire brush and a rag.
2. Check the brake disc for cracks, especially around the wheel bolt holes, wear or mechanical damage and replace if necessary.
3. Measure the brake disc thickness.
4. If new brake pads are to be installed, use the special tool to press the piston into the caliper. To press the piston into the caliper, you can use a wooden rod or a hammer handle. At the same time, make sure that the piston is not warped and the surfaces of the piston and anther are not damaged. When the piston is pushed in, the brake fluid is forced out of the brake cylinder into the expansion tank, so constantly monitor the fluid level in the tank, and if necessary, pump out a small amount of fluid from the tank.
5. Check that the notches on the caliper piston are vertical. Rotate the piston to the correct position if necessary.
6. Apply a light coat of brake lubricant to the brake pad surfaces that mate with the caliper.
7. Install the inner pad on the caliper, while the spring clip should be installed in the piston recess.
8. Install the outer brake pad.
9. Install the inner pad caliper onto the caliper holder. Screw in the caliper guide pins and tighten them to 25 Nm.
10. Install the dust caps on the caliper guide pins.
11. Install the retaining spring on the caliper. In this case, the ends of the spring should be located in the holes of the caliper.
12. If equipped, install a new wear sensor on the inner brake pad.
13. Replace the brake pads on the second front wheel in the same way.
14. Install the wheels and lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the mounting bolts to 120 Nm.
15. Depress the brake pedal several times until the brake pads press against the brake disc.
16. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir.
