Replacing the mesh filter (VW Passat B4)
Replace the mesh filter (Fig. 4-56) each time the oil in the gearbox housing is changed. To remove the filter, remove the oil pan and the gearbox housing oil filler tube (Fig. 4-57) by squeezing its lower part in the housing, then remove the mesh filter with the sealing ring and install a new filter.
